We’re Sam, Ben and Ellis — three best mates who met at uni in Bristol back in 2012. Back then, over countless conversations (and a few questionable drinks), we realised we all felt the same way: why was so much rum packed full of colourings, sugars and spices? And why did it always seem to come with a plastic cutlass and a pirate outfit?

What often gets missed is that this idea didn’t come from nowhere. Between us, we have over 20 years’ combined experience working in the drinks industry, primarily in craft brewing and large-scale production. We’ve spent years on the floor and behind the scenes at some of the most respected craft breweries in the South West and Midlands, as well as within major brewing production companies — learning first-hand how quality spirits and beers are made at scale, properly and without shortcuts.

So we set out to create something different: a whisky of the rum world. A spirit you could sip neat, mix if you like, savour slowly and enjoy for its honest character — without added sugar, flavourings or gimmicks.

Ten years, many late nights, and a fair few experiments later, The Distiller’s Blend was born: a premium British craft rum made with patience, purity and a lot of care.

Somehow, through all of it, we’ve built a business we genuinely love — and managed to stay best mates in the process. Cheers to that.
